Most of the key bloggers about international and US politics could be categorized as progressive, left or liberal. Most support an independent Australian foreign policy, oppose what they see as US hegemony and have been stridently anti-Bush. They have been strongly against the Iraq war, though less vocal about Afghanistan.

As Pope Benedict XVI makes his first papal visit to the United States this week, the media and blogosphere are in a frenzy - primarily due to the sexual abuse scandal that shook the foundation of the American Catholic church six years ago. Iraqi bloggers gave US presidential hopeful Senator John McCain a lukewarm reception, during his recent visit to Iraq.
