Here's a video inspired by the Obama song Yes We can with a Native American flair.

We are hoping that Obama will make a human rights plan a top priority for our country. Two things he will have to do to make it more than rhetorical is to dismantle the national security apparatus begun in 1948, and to stop all violations of treaties with Native Americans. Both of these actions will put him at odds with those who financed his campaign, and thus require significant social disruption demanding an end to ownership of the White House by Wall Street. He can't do it alone.

Jay, I didn't suggest - at least didn't intend to do so - that Obama is indigenous. Thanks for the comment.

One correction: Obama is not an indigenous person. This doesn't mean he can't be a friend to indigenous peoples, and recognizing their human rights by asking Congress to adopt the UN declaration as law would be a good step in that direction.

Obama's first two choices -- Biden and Emanuel -- are not encouraging to the indigenous people of Palestine. In fact, Obama's stated loyalties in the Middle East and intentions in Central Asia are a disaster from an indigenous point of view.

As a correspondent to Fourth World Eye, I encourage both indigenous and non-indigenous people to join in efforts to bring democracy and human rights to North America, as well as to other continents. Promoting war for resources around the world is not consistent with that goal.
