Facebook's Armenians for Obama

Just as there are Canadians for Obama, South Asians for Obama, and even Madagascar for Obama, there are Armenians for Obama.  This group consists of both diasporic Armenians and those in Armenia, and the group's members are quite active in their support of Barack Obama.

Berdj Orange, speaking in April, seemed disenfranchised by the American democratic process:

I am a bit surprized by the fact that Armenians are very quiet on this wall.

Do they understand that:
the Democrat winner Obama or Clinton will be the one who wants the most the power for the power ?

Worst with Republicans !! They want the power for the power to make money.

From my parisian point of view:
US or American Preliminars look like more to a TV reality show than a real debate on to-morrow projects about war in Irak, war with Iran, mondialism and free exchange, etc .. etc . social healthcares …

American democracy is more and more a TV program.

Antranig Tony Mardiros, who resides in Boston, felt strongly that Obama would treat Armenians differently than recent presidents have:

I really hope Obama wins!!! I also hope he doesn't stab us(Armenians) in the back like every other recent president. Why would he fight the state dept. for us? We're a 2-bit nation with no international pull. Is his word worth more than G.W. Bush's? He made the same b.s. claims about recognizing the genocide before he was elected.

Alexan Yerevanian, based in California, encouraged Armenian supporters to donate to Obama's campaign (note: only citizens and permanent residents of the United States may legally do so):

it's excellent that everyone here is motivated to go out and vote for Obama, but the next best thing to casting a vote for Obama is to donate to the cause.

I guess I’m confused… What about Senator Obama appeals to Armenians particularly? What’s the issue at stake?

  • Mainly Genocide recognition, I would say. It’s usually the same with all Democratic candidates after Republicans always block any such resolutions. Then again, the realities of geopolitics results in a Democratic president doing the same, but Armenians at home and abroad probably feel Democrats are more genuine on the issue.

Here’s a little something I made; I hope Armenians like it.
